Library Card Information

How to get a library card:

Initial cards are free to all City of Beloit residents, Beloit property owners, and all Rock County township residents who choose Beloit Public Library (BPL) as their home library.  Residents who live in Wisconsin, excluding the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County libraries are also able to get a BPL card.

• If you do not live in Wisconsin or are a resident of the City of Milwaukee or Milwaukee County you may get a BPL card by paying $100.00/yr out-of-state fee.
• A registration form must be completed and accompanied by a valid ID bearing the name and home address of the potential cardholder.
• Anyone under the age of 16 is required to have a parent or legal guardian present to get a card.  The parent or legal guardian must provide current ID with name and home address.  Internet permission forms are available at this time for those parents or guardians wanting to allow their child access to use the computers.
• Your card may be used at any ALS public libraries.
• Replacement cards are $2.00; however, any fines, fees, overdue item(s), billed or replacement items must be clear at all ALS libraries before a new card may be issued.

 Forms of identification (ID):

All identification must be current bearing the name and current home address of the potential cardholder.  Driver’s license and identification cards must be unexpired.  Any other form of ID accepted must be on the list and be dated within the past two months.  Look at the listings below to see what you need to bring with you to become a Beloit Public Library cardholder.

• A Current Wisconsin Drivers License or Wisconsin Identification Card with your home address.  Only one form of either of these two is all that is needed for proof of residence.
• Beloit College Students must have their current student ID with current semester sticker and their ID with their current home address.
•  These acceptable proofs of residence require two forms, one form from two different entities:
       - Payroll check
       - Check stub
       - Medical bill statements
       - Credit card bill
       - Official government document
   

Lost or stolen card:

        Notify the circulation staff at (608) 364-2911 to report your lost or stolen card.  We will immediately place a stop on your account to prevent someone else from using your card.  Either get a new card or if you find your card have it reinstated by showing valid ID with that card.

Forgotten Card:

       Not to worry.   We will look up your card with a valid ID up to three times per card.  After the three times of looking up you account, you must produce your issued card at checkout or get a replacement card.
